TOKYO -- One person was confirmed dead and nine others still missing after a cargo ship capsized off Nagasaki prefecture in southwestern Japan, the Chinese Consulate-General in Nagasaki confirmed Wednesday.
According to the consulate-general, 14 Chinese and eight crew members from Myanmar were on the Hong Kong-registered cargo ship. (Japan-Cargo Ship-Nagasaki)

JERUSALEM -- Israeli soldiers shot and killed a Palestinian on Wednesday after he attempted to stab them at a military post in the occupied West Bank, the military said.

FAIZABAD, Afghanistan -- A mineworker lost his life in a mudslide in Afghanistan's northern Badakhshan province on Tuesday, provincial director of information and culture Qari Maazudin Ahmadi said Wednesday.
The incident occurred in the Yawan district of the province on Monday afternoon when some miners were busy in digging, killing at least one of the miners, the official told Xinhua. (Afghanistan,Landslide-Mineworker)

ISLAMABAD -- Four children were killed and two women injured in an explosion caused by gas leakage in a house in Quetta city of Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province on Wednesday, local reports said.
The incident happened when one member of the family tried to light a heater, without realizing the accumulation of the leaking gas in the room, the reports said. (Pakistan-Gas explosion)
