SAO PAULO -- Brazil reported on Wednesday 3,829 COVID-19 deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing its total to 340,776, said the Ministry of Health.
The ministry said that there were also 92,625 new COVID-19 infections in the same period of time, for an accumulated total of 13,193,205. (Brazil-COVID-19)

BAGHDAD -- The United States and Iraq agreed on Wednesday to redeploy the remaining U.S.-led coalition combat troops outside Iraq in light of the increasing capacity of the Iraqi security forces in fighting against the extremist Islamic State group, said a joint statement on the U.S.-Iraq Strategic Dialogue.
The joint statement said that the Iraqi delegation was led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein, while the U.S. delegation was led by Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. (Iraq-US)

OTTAWA -- As COVID-19 cases rise due to more transmissible variants spreading across Canada, populous provinces in the country are reinstating public health restrictions to stem the pandemic.

ADEN, Yemen -- Landmines laid by the Houthi group during the years-long civil war in Yemen killed nearly 8,000 people so far, Yemen's state-run news agency Saba reported on Wednesday.
According to Saba, the mines and explosives planted by the Houthi militia caused a major humanitarian disaster in Yemen, killing more than 8,000 people, including children and women, since the beginning of the war in September 2014. (Yemen-Landmine)
