SYDNEY, Australia - Stocks in Asia got off to a good start for the week on Monday with gains across the board.
The Shanghai Composite rose 25.14 points or 0.84% to 3,024.74.
The Australian All Ords added 7.40 points or 0.11% to 6,760.10.
In Japan, the Nikkei 225 climbed 118.85 points or 0.56% to 21,318.42.
The Hong Kong Hang Seng went against the trend, dropping 36.27 points or 0.14% to 26,654.49.
The U.S. dollar was little changed. The euro was fetching 1.10341 around the Sydney close on Monday.
The British pound was changing hands at 1.2273. The Japanese yen and Swiss franc eased a touch to 106.96 and 0.9899.
The commodity currencies were well bid. The Canadian dollar edged up to 1.3168. The Australian dollar was steady at 0.6855, while the New Zealand dollar traded at 0.6414.
